KinderRijk Child Centre De Horizon receives the keys to new building

KinderRijk and the primary schools De Horizon and De Akker have received the keys to their new (school) building, which were handed over by alderman Frank Berkhout. Besides these schools, AmstelveenSport and the Amstelveen Table-Tennis Club will be housed here. The modern building on Landtong in the Groenelaan district will open after the autumn break.

A sustainable and circular construction

The new building is a sustainable natural gas-free building, fitted with solar panels and energy-efficient LED lighting. In addition, the building has been equipped with a modern ventilation system, which not only purifies the air, but also pleasantly cools it in summer and heats it in winter. A conscious choice was made during the construction to reuse materials, such as sinks from De Horizon’s old building that were still in good condition, and scrap wood from the façade of the town hall, which has now been incorporated into the interior. Also the wood from felled trees on the building site has been given a new use as wardrobes.

Building an Integrated Child Centre together

KinderRijk is proud to be the new childcare partner of Child Centre De Horizon. Currently, Child Centre De Horizon provides pre-school care, including pre-school education (Dutch: VE), and after-school care. We are looking forward to the expansion with a day-care centre, which is expected to open in the first quarter of 2025.

We are working on an Integrated Child Centre together with De Horizon. This will create a safe place where children aged 0 to 13 can grow and develop naturally through fun and play in a continuous learning line.
