Having fun reading to children during the National Reading Days
The National Reading Days are currently in full swing at KinderRijk. Today, for example, the children of after-school care Jane Addamslaan received a special visit from Soufyan El Hamdi, member of KinderRijk’s Board of Directors. After lunch, he came to read to the children from the picture book of the year 2024: ‘Help! A Surprise!’, about the adventures of August the Fox and his buddy Suus Squirrel. A story about fantasy, discovery, being allowed to be who you are, playing together, being considerate of each other and friendship. Themes that tie in nicely with the children’s developing world.
Were you aware that reading to children is very important for children’s language development? It has a positive effect on their vocabulary, spelling and text comprehension. Children moreover develop better empathy in addition to their language skills.
