Is the care centre open all year round?
Day care and after-school care are open all year round, except for public holidays and KinderRijk seminar days. During holiday weeks and school closing days, after-school care is open all day. Preschool care is only open during school weeks. KinderRijk’s locations will close at 4pm on 24 and 31 December.
The collective care-location closing days 2026 are:

* Since 2025, Liberation Day has been an annual public holiday in the Childcare Collective Labour Agreement.
** In the old agreements for 51 weeks (which we no longer actively offer), there is no childcare during the days between Christmas and New Year’s.
Seminar days for 2026
The development of our educational professionals is a key aspect in our organisation, and we believe it is crucial that they are given the time and resources to facilitate their learning and growth. For this reason, 2 KinderRijk seminar days are organised every year, providing employees with the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and skills.
Seminar day Tuesday 14 April 2026
The first seminar day in 2026 will be on Tuesday 14 April. On this day, all KinderRijk locations and the Service Centre will be closed for the entire day.
Seminar afternoons in October and November 2026
In addition to the seminar day in April, KinderRijk organises seminar afternoons for regular training and refresher courses. These will be held on Thursdays in October and November next year. Your location will be closed on one of those afternoons. We will announce the exact dates in 2026..
The seminar day in April and the seminar afternoons in the autumn change every year to make sure that these days/afternoons do not affect the same parents every year.
