Mayor reads at KinderRijk
Today, the children at KDV Nicolaas Tulplaan received a very special visit: the mayor of Amstelveen, Tjapko Poppens. He read from the picture book “Hey, Who’s on the Toilet?”, perfectly fitting with the Children’s book week theme, ‘Lekker eigenwijs!’(Nicely Stubborn!). The children listened eagerly and joined in with enthusiasm, guessing along the way! As thanks for reading aloud, the children had a nice surprise for the mayor: a handmade necklace!
Children’s Book Week continues until October 13, and we are celebrating this at KinderRijk with reading moments, creative activities, and stories from parents and grandparents. Research shows that it’s never too early to start reading. Just fifteen minutes of reading every day stimulates the fantasy, stimulates children’s language development and prevents language deficiencies later in life. That is why at KinderRijk we read to the children every day.
