Preschool Alsemlaan is located in Westwijk, in Amstelveen-Zuid. Every day, our team makes sure that the children have fun, are provided with an imaginative environment and have plenty of inspiring things to do! Our toddlers are free to explore and investigate the environment by themselves. Also in our beautiful garden, which our two vertical groups border on.
We prepare our toddlers for primary school in a structured and playful way. By singing, moving, reading, talking, playing and working together, we help the children progress in their development. We also use Logo3000, a tool to increase vocabulary. Fun is paramount!
We have a special collaboration with The Zonnehuis, the nursing home adjacent to our premises. We regularly organise joint activities for the Zonnehuis residents and our children. At Easter, for instance, we make Palm poles together and the children occasionally give a performance at the Zonnehuis.

What does a day look like for us?
A fixed daily schedule is used for the children, as this gives them structure and a solid basis. Our educational staff will be pleased to tell you more about this.

Between 8:00 and 9:00 a.m., we welcome your child and discuss how your child is doing. Parents can stay for a while during the drop-off time to read a book, do a puzzle or play a game with their child. 09.15
After you have said goodbye to each other, we will start at the table. Here we will have something to eat and drink. After that, we sing songs, talk to children about what they are up to and discuss what we are going to do that day. 10.00
We start in a circle all together. Children can have free play time as well as activities focused on your toddler’s development. 12.00
At 12.00 p.m., you can come and pick up your child. During this handover time, the educational staff member will take you through the day and will pay particular attention to your child’s growth during the day. Practical information
Settling in at preschool
During the settling-in period, we take the time to get to know your child and you, and to let you get used to the new situation. Settling in an individual process suited to the developmental stage of children and to the specific needs and habits of the children and the parents.

Hello, I am Yentl van Geffen, location manager of KinderRijk Alsemlaan.
At the age of 18 I started off as a BBL (training on the job) trainee at after-school care. I was instantly hooked and have worked in childcare ever since. And currently as location manager.
I believe it is essential that both children and staff are given the opportunity to develop their qualities and are able to show what they have to offer. As location manager, I consider it my job to ensure that everyone can effectively work on his or her development.
